Officially established on 6 April 2018, the UNESCO Chair "Education for Human Development and Solidarity Among Peoples" promotes education as a fundamental condition for human development and solidarity among populations. In the context of the 2030 Agenda for Education, the Chair aims to contribute to the achievement of the goals concerning the training of teachers and educators, and the improvement of access to quality educational opportunities for children, adolescents and youth with a main focus on contexts of poverty and marginalisation.
The Chair emphasises the realisation of training and action-research projects in different fields, from international cooperation and global citizenship education, through service learning, to democratic governance of education and higher education.
