Sarah Bigi obtained her PhD in Linguistics from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, in Milano. She has been working for many years on medical argumentation within the doctor-patient interaction. She has worked on the use of the argument from authority, before beginning in 2012 an observational study on argumentation in diabetes care, which led to the present project.

Fabrizio Macagno obtained his PhD in Linguistics from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, in Milano. Since 2010, he has been a researcher at the Unviersidade Nova de Lisboa, working on pragmatic aspects of argumentation. He has published the results of his research in two books, Argumentation Schemes and Emotive Language in Argumentation, both published by Cambridge University Press, and in many articles in various international journals. He studies the uses of argumentation law and in education.

Maria Grazia Rossi obtained her PhD in Cognitive Sciences from the University of Messina. She has worked on a theory of emotions in connection with moral and political decision making. She is currently focusing on the role of reasoning and argumentation in the social and collaborative dimension of human communication. She is a post-doc researcher at Catholic University of Milano and Adjunct Professor at the University of Cagliari.
